Manuel D. Lopes

Manuel D. Lopes, 80, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, August 19, 2016. He was born in Portugal, son of the late Esmael and Maria E. (de Almaida) Lopes. Manuel was the loving husband of 56 years to Maria F. Lopes who recently passed away on July 8, 2016.

Manuel immigrated to the United States in 1974. He was a hard worker; gaining employment in the textile industry prior to working for the Bethlehem Steel Co. and later the City of Bethlehem. He was a devoted parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church.

Manuel will be dearly missed by his sons, Paul J. Lopes and Sergio A. Lopes both of Bethlehem; brother, Elisio and sister, Clementina both of Portugal; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Abel, Jose and Antonio.



A visitation will be held at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. with a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
