Manuel Oliveira

Manuel Oliveira, 87, of Bethlehem, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospice in Allentown.

Born on January 28, 1935, in Cervaes, Portugal, he was a son of the late Benjamim Gomes and Maria Coelho (Ribeiro) de Oliveira.

Following his formal education and subsequent service in the Army in Portugal, Manuel immigrated to the United States. He held jobs in general construction, worked at Bethlehem Steel, Western Electric, and later retired from the former Muhlenberg Rehab.

Outside of work, Manuel was always busy: He loved making his own wine, tending to his persimmon and chestnut treeswhich he brought over from Portugalspending time outside in his yard, cooking on the grill, and watching action films.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers.

Manuel will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Maria Sofia Romoa (Pereira) Oliveira; three daughters: Deolinda M. Bond, and her husband John Scott, of Pocono Lake; Maria Alice Leskin, and her husband Edward A., of Orefield; and Maria Fatima Roth, and her husband Kent Lee, of Allentown; and two grandchildren: Claire Serenah Leskin of Orefield and Christina Marie Oliveira of Allentown; four brothers, one sister, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A viewing will be held at the Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, on Friday, August 12, 2022, from 9:30am until the time of the funeral service, in the funeral home, at 10:30am.

Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Linden Street, Bethlehem.
