Manuel Vazquez

Manuel Vazquez, Jr. “JR”, 61, of Bethlehem, died suddenly on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Muhlenberg Hospital in Bethlehem. He was born in Bethlehem, the son of Maria (Fuentes) Vazquez of Bethlehem; and the late Manuel Vazquez.

JR worked by trade as a barber for over 40 years. He also worked for Mack Trucks for 11 years and retired from Fedex after 27 years of service. He was a "Jack of all trades" owning his landscaping business, "Express Services.” In addition, JR was a registered PIAA Official for baseball and basketball with the Bethlehem Chapter. He was a member of the Puerto Rican Club. JR loved golf, playing the guitar and dancing, but mostly spending time with his family, especially his only grandson, Mason.

JR proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was a parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Maria; daughter, Dawn Vazquez of Bethlehem; son, Daren Vazquez of Allentown; his girlfriend, Debra Trzesniowski; his sisters, Diana, wife of Dana Erney of Ocean View, DE; and Norma, wife of Jim Overholt of Allentown; his grandson, Mason Vazquez; nieces, Heather Nuneviller and Shannon Hughes; and his nephews, Sean Erney and Carlos Ortiz; and his former wife, Tara Peckitt.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 E. 4th St., Bethlehem, PA 18015. Viewings will be held on Friday, from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem.
