Manuel Vazquez

Manuel Vazquez, 85, of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem. He was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico and was the son of the late Moises and Alfonsa Santiago Vazquez and the husband of Maria Fuentes Vazquez of Bethlehem with whom he celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this past June.

Manuel worked as a cranemen for the Bethlehem Steel Co. in the beam yards retiring in 1978 after 28 years of service. Manuel was a member of the USWA Local #2599. He was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name Society at church. He was one of the organizers of the Puerto Rican Club in Bethlehem.

Manuel will be lovingly remembered by his wife Maria Fuentes Vazquez of Bethlehem, two daughters, Diana Erney and husband Dana of Ocean View, DE, and Norma Overholt and husband Jim of Allentown, a son Manuel Vazquez Jr. of Bethlehem, brothers Angel, Blas, William all of Bethlehem and Pacin Vazquez of Puerto Rico, sisters Carmen Fontanes and Maria Rodriguez of Bethlehem and Nilda Fontanes of Puerto Rico, and six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Manuel is predeceased by two brothers Augustin and Mariano Vazquez and a sister Nelida Ocacio.

Visitation, Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 9:PM and on Monday, August 24, 2009 from 8:15 AM to 9:15 AM at the Connell Funeral Home Inc., 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 East Fourth St., Bethlehem, PA 18015.

Burial following Mass at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
