Margaret "Marge" Gordon Kender

Margaret “Marge” (Gordon) Kender, 89, of Allentown, passed away on November 18, 2022, at St. Lukes Fountain Hill. Marge was the loving wife of the late Joseph P. Kender, Ed.D who passed away on January 7, 2021.

Born on December 8, 1932, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Condron) and Howard Gordon.

Margaret earned her BA at West Chester State University, masters degree at Villanova University in 1957 and received an Honorary Doctorate from DeSales University. She went on to serve on the faculty staff at Cabrini College from 1961-1966, was a professor at DeSales University beginning in 1971 and later became Vice-President of Student Affairs at DeSales until she retired in 1997. Marge was also a long-time member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Mark A. Kender MD and his wife, Patty of Macungie, PA, Christopher Joseph Kender, and his wife, Amanda, of Exton, and Joseph P. Kender, Jr., and his wife, Cindy Cherry, of Berwyn, PA; six grandchildren, Abigail, Julia, Christopher, Kevin, Gordon, and Patrick and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marge is preceded in death by her brother, Arthur J. Gordon.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Dr., Orefield, PA 18069. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DeSales University, 2755 Station Ave., Center Valley, PA 18034.
