Margaret R. Hines

July 1, 1928 — February 4, 2012

Margaret "Marge" R. Davis Hines, age 83, of Bethlehem, passed away on Saturday, February 4th at home, following a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Born on July 1st, 1928 in Scranton, PA, Marge was the eldest of six children of Rose M. Byron and Edgar T. Davis, Sr. She was a 1946 graduate of

Scranton Technical High School. In the 1940's, she worked as a waitress at various hotels in the Poconos, such as Stricklands, the Ontwood, and the Skyline Inn.

In 1946 she met her husband Bill in Mount Pocono, and they were married on February 19th, 1949 at Saint Mary's of the Mount Catholic Church.

Marge & Bill first resided in Allentown, and then moved to Bethlehem in 1954, where they became one of the founding families of Notre Dame Church. She was an active bowler, bowling in various leagues at Boulevard Lanes for over 40 years. Marge was also a volunteer for Birthright of the Lehigh Valley for many years and helped with counseling and fundraising activities there.

Marge is survived by three children; a son, William B. and Kimberly of Myerstown, daughter Mary Beth her primary caretaker for the past five years and daughter Sherri M., wife of Robert Stengline, of Hawley, PA. She leaves behind one granddaughter, Kaitlin E. Hines of New York City, and two step-grandsons, Kyle and Erik Stengline of Moosic, PA. She also leaves one sister, Clara Gross of Cresco, PA, and one sister-in-law, Iris Hines of Johnston, RI, many nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren.

Marge was predeceased by her husband, William J. "Bill" Hines III in 2007, four brothers; Stuart J., Robert F., Edgar T. Jr. and Byron John "Jackie".

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 11:30 AM. The family will receive friends on Monday in the church from 10:30-11:30 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Savior Cemetery. Connell Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
