Margaret R. Vooz, 92, passed away on May 4 in Bethlehem, PA. Daughter of the late Joseph and Susanna Reisteter, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Philip, in 2003, her sisters Agnes, Anna, Sophia and Mary, and her brothers, John, Joseph, Stephen, Andrew and Fr. William. Margaret was educated in the Catholic schools of Bethlehem and received her R.N. degree from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing and also attended Penn State University. In 1947 she married Phil and they began a military life in the Air Force taking their family to numerous bases throughout the US. In 1977 she and Phil retired fulltime to Naples, FL, and were founding members of St. Williams Church and St. John the Evangelist Church. An active member, she was a Eucharistic Minister and administered to patients in the hospital and their home. Margaret was also a member and past president of St. Johns CCW. She also enjoyed many friendships playing bridge and golf at Palm River and later at Quail Village. In 2008, along with her brother Father Bill Reisteter, she moved to Sacred Heart Senior Living in PA and was able to enjoy time with her family. Margaret was a three time cancer survivor and was just shy of her 93rd birthday.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Phil of Grass Valley, CA, Joel of Northampton, PA, and daughter Nan (Tom) Dawson of Miromar Lakes, FL, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, her brother and sister in law, George and Mary, and sister in law, Lorraine, and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Connell Funeral Home in Bethlehem. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 10 AM at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish, 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Friends may call from 9:30-10 AM in the church. The family wishes to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at Sacred Heart Senior Living at Saucon Creek, Heartland Hospice and Griswold Family Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Francis Retreat House, 3918 Chipman Road, Easton, PA 18042.
