Marguerite Stefl

Marguerite H Stefl, 85, known to all as Candi, died in Florida on Sunday, January 1, after a five year long bout with leukemia. She was a longtime resident of Bethlehem, and most recently, Crescent, PA. Candi was born January 8, 1926 in Steubenville, Ohio, to Daniel and Peg Bahen. She was predeceased by her sister, Bernardine Hughes and brother, Joseph Bahen, as well as her in-laws: Charles Stefl, Jane Stefl, Marion Stefl, and Lois Stefl.

She attended Miami University of Ohio where she majored in physical education and later, worked briefly for the Herald Star newspaper in Steubenville. She was married for 50 years to the late Robert W. Stefl, a lawyer for Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Following his death, she was married to his brother, Donald J. Stefl for 11 years, until his death in 2010.

Candi displayed a fierce sense of independence all of her life. She enjoyed bowling, golf, reading, puzzles of all types, and playing bridge. For many years, Candi and her husband traveled the world extensively with the Stefl brothers and sisters-in-law. She was a member of the Montour Heights Country Club where she played bridge and enjoyed dining with "the gang". Her devotion to the Pittsburgh Steelers was legendary.

Survivors include her 4 children: Patricia Prince Charles of Jacksonville, Florida; Mark Kathryn of Northville, Michigan; Thomas Cindy of Kempton, PA. and James Belinda of Milton, PA.; and her much loved brother and sisters-in-law, Jeanne K. Stefl of Crescent and Harold and Helen Stefl of Lancaster, PA. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces, and many very dear friends.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Connell Funeral Home of Bethlehem, PA. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Anne's Catholic Church 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18018 at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 6, 2012 followed by interment in Holy Family Cemetery, Nazareth, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Candi's memory to the charity of one's choice.
