Maria F. August

Maria F. August, 86, formerly of Bethlehem, died on Thursday, January 05, 2017, at Gracedale Nursing Home. She was born in Arcozelo Gouveia, Portugal, the daughter of the late Antonio and Anunciacao (Jesus) Bernardo. She was the loving wife to the late Cristiano August who died in 1994.

She was a member of the Portuguese Lodge 31 and a parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church. Maria worked for the former Schobal Bros. Tie Factory in Bethlehem and St. Lukes Hospital. She enjoyed crocheting and loved being with family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Andrea Marie Brobst, Angela Marie August and Antonio Richard August; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Natividade Louro and Santana Marcelino and a brother Jose Bernardo. She was preceded in death by her son, Antonio August and brothers and sisters.

Viewings will be held on Friday, January13, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. and also on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Holy Infancy Church, 312 E. fourth St. Bethlehem, PA 18015.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Infancy Church.
