Mariano Tito Carreras

Mariano "Mario" Tito Carreras, 77, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 in his home. Born December 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Evelyn Mae (Rothfus) and Juan Carreras, Sr.

Mariano worked over 34 years and retired from the PB&NE Railroad, first as a brakeman then an engineer. He also owned and operated Marios Aluminum in Bethlehem. Prior to working at the railroad he worked for Hess Brothers making and installing windows. After retirement he worked part time for Cantelmi Hardware.

Mariano served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church. A great athlete who was able to learn a sport fairly quickly, he wrestled and boxed in high school and later in life had a passion for golf. He was very active with many social clubs in Bethlehem and was on the board at the Antlers Association, the Boys Club, and was an active member of the Mexican Aztec Society, Bethlehem. Mariano also liked to drive, go to the casino and enjoy a good cocktail. He was a fun loving person who made people smile. Mariano adored his family and just wanted them to be happy. He was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him.

Mariano will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Lisa Carreras Arechiga and husband Michael of Bethlehem, sons, Mario Carreras and wife Deborah of Orange County, CA and Chris Carreras and wife Beth of Easton, grandchildren, Amber, Clint, Christopher, Chardonnay, Cierra, Cameron, Christian, Josh, Jordynn, Anthony and Mickey. He will also be missed by his long time girlfriend Becky Ernst with whom he resided. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tara and brothers, Stanley, Juan, Jr., and Robert.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 5-7 PM at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, Pa 18018 with a memorial service at 6 PM where family and friends will be invited to share a memory of Mariano.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marianos name to the charity of ones choice.
