Mario Alves

Mario Alves, 78, of Allentown, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 in his home. He was born in Real, Portugal; the son of the late Jose Alves and Anuciacao Sousa. He was the loving husband of Maria L. (Pais) Alves with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage this past December 15th.

Mario worked for the former Lisbon Construction Co for 20 years. He was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Mario enjoyed working in his garden but most of all he loved the time he spent with his family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Maria Lurdes; daughters, Laurentina wife of Jose M. Silva; Maria Helena wife of Antonino Dias; grandchildren, Michelle, Jason, Matthew and Nicole and he will also be missed by his dog, Benfica. He was preceded in death by his sister, Estefania Alves and brothers, Jose Maria, Antonio and Francisco Alves.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Infancy Catholic Church 312 E. Fourth St., Bethlehem, PA 18015 at 10 AM. Entombment will be at Holy Saviour Mausoleum, in Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mario's name to Holy Infancy Catholic Church.
