Marjorie Bennett O'Brien of 1874 Meadows Road, Bethlehem, PA 18015, passed away quietly in Arlington, VA on June 10, 2010 in the presence of family and friends. Marjorie was born in Oakland, California on June 29, 1918 to Harry M. Bennett and Margaret Swanson Bennett, who predeceased her. After a career as a child Vaudeville singer and dancer in California, Marjorie moved east with her parents to Washington, D.C., where she met and married her husband, the late Earl Joseph O'Brien. Marjorie and Earl lived in New York City before moving to Bethlehem, PA in 1948. Marjorie is survived by three sons, John Michael, Thomas Carroll and Mark Bennett, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Marjorie was a cheerful and loving wife and mother, beloved by all those who knew her. She played the piano beautifully for those who liked to sing, spoke French when the opportunity arose, and kept a welcoming home for the family's friends and relatives. She loved animals of all kinds, especially her dogs and cats, and gardening. Marjorie served as Treasurer of the Bethlehem Junior League for many years, and was a member of the Fortnightly Book Club, the Bowling Group, and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Marjorie at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Colesville, PA, at 10a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010. All are welcome.
