Marlene Podhayny

June 6, 1919 — July 18, 2010

Marlene Podhayny, 91 , of Bethlehem passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Holy Family Manor. Born June 6, 1919 in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Catharine Derkoch and Demetro Podhayny.

Marlene worked for Just Born Candy and Josetts Sewing Factory. Her last place of employment was at B.Braun Medical Inc. for 22 years retiring in 1985. Marlene was a member of St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bethlehem and the Ukraine Society. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and traveling especially her trips to Atlantic City. She would also enjoy helping out at the Clover Hill Winery harvesting grapes.

Marlene will be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Julia Podhayny with whom she resided in Bethlehem, several nieces, nephews, many grand nieces and nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers; William Podhayny and Michael Podhayny, Sr. and sisters; Olga Chapko, Sophie Solotwa and Anna Reichard.

SERVICES

Visitation will be held, Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-9 PM with a Parasas Service at 6:30 PM. Another visitation will be held, Wednesday, from 8:30-9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by an Office of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1826 Kenmore Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marlene's name to Memorial Fund St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church or Holy Family Manor 1200 Spring St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
