Martha H. Peterson

November 15, 1924 — February 23, 2013

Martha H. Peterson, 88, of Bethlehem passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 23, 2013, at the Hospice House of St. Luke's. Her husband, the late Rehn C. Peterson,died in 1974. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest of three children of the late Milton and Elsie (Phelps)Hendrie. Martha moved to the area in 1968 and was a 45 year resident of Bethlehem.

Martha was a longtime and very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bethlehem. Regular participation in her "K"(Koinonia) Group and prayer group was an important part of her life. She served as both a Deacon and an Elder at the church and worked on committees such as wedding and flower. Martha also gave of her time and talents by volunteering at Kirkland Village, St. Luke's Hospital and the Miller Blood Bank. She was an avid and accomplished bridge player and she also enjoyed reading, crosswords, and years ago, bowling.

Martha will be lovingly remembered by her children, Lynn and her husband, Dick Vermeulen, of St. George, ME; Kim and his wife, Melissa, of Danville, CA; and Rehn and his wife, Holly, of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Lissa, Rehn, Kipp, Brad, Kasey and Zach; and great- grandchildren Benjamin and Andrew. She is preceded in death by a brother, Milton Hendrie and a sister, Madge Beard.

Services will be held on Friday March 1st at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 2344 Center Street, Bethlehem PA.
