Martin F. Adams

January 22, 1931 — February 25, 2021

Martin Francis Adams of Collegeville, PA, formerly of Bethlehem, PA and Simsbury, CT, passed from this world peacefully into the arms of the Lord on February 25, 2021, surrounded by his family. Marty was born and raised in Bethlehem, PA on January 22, 1931, and had recently celebrated his 90th birthday with his family. Marty was the beloved husband of Rita (Fagan) Adams for 64 years. Rita and Marty would have celebrated their 65th anniversary on April 7th.

He was a proud Veteran having served our country in the Army. Marty graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School in 1949 where he met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Rita, and married her in 1956.

Marty graduated from St. Josephs University, Philadelphia in 1953. He went on to work for over 35 years for Sears Roebuck &Co. which took him to Baltimore, MD; Brooklyn, NY; West Haven, New London, Bridgeport and West Harford, CT.

Marty was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Bethlehem and served as a Eucharistic Minister often bringing Communion to the homebound.

Martys true joy in life was spending time with his wife, Rita, children, and grandchildren. Nothing pleased him more that have a good meal, cold beer or a Manhattan, and a great conversation. His family has fond memories of summer vacations at the Jersey Shore in Ocean Beach, NJ. He was an avid sports fan of the St. Joes Hawks, the Orioles and the original Colts from when he lived in the Baltimore area.

Marty is survived by his wife Rita, children Maureen Stokowski and husband Ken and their children Kelly and Sarah from CT; son, Martin and wife Cathi and their children Callaghan, Kennison, and Canon of IL; and daughter and caregiver Michelle OReilly and husband Matt and their children Matthew and his fianc Lexi Paterson, Sean, Kevin and Colleen of PA. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.

The youngest of six children, Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Mary (Clooney) Adams; siblings: Sr. Bernice Addams SSJ, Anne Sinnot; brothers, Pat, Tom, and Frank Adams.

Marty, Dad, Pop Pop you will be in our hearts and minds always. We will miss you forever! You were simply THE BEST!

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Martys memory may be made to Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care, 523 Plymouth Rd., Ste. 225, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462
