Mary A. Koch

Mary A. Koch, 100 of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem. Her secret to a long life was "one cup a coffee a day with eight cubes of sugar!"

Mary was born in Palmerton, the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Gearhart Hanus. She was the loving wife of the late Elmer J. Koch.

Mary was employed by St. Luke's Hospital in the Dietician Department and also worked at the Fountain Hill Beneficial Society, the Homestead Restaurant and the Maples Restaurant. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Susan M. Ritter, wife of William O. Ritter, III and her grandchildren, William and Stephanie, her greatest joy.

Mary was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, excellent baker and cook and shared a very close relationship with her family.

Mary and Susan shared a special mother-daughter connection. She will be in our hearts and prayers forever.

She is predeceased by her four sisters, Julia Mendel, Margaret Uhl, Elizabeth Gottwald, Helen Grosh and her brother, Joseph Hanus.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Holy Family Manor Chapel 1200 Spring St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 at 12 p.m. Visitation will be from 11a.m-12 p.m. at Holy Family Manor. Burial will follow at Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Holy Family Manor or St. Anne's Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017.
