Mary A. Lucas

Our beloved Aunt Mary, 101 years of age, decided on Thursday, December 24, to wish our Lord a Happy Birthday in person. Mary peacefully slipped away and began her journey home, reuniting with her family in Heaven. Born November 5, 1919 on the Southside of Bethlehem, she was the second of 5 children born to Martin and Julia (Skrilic) Resetar. She met her husband, Louis J. Lucas of Miller Heights on the dancefloor in Allentown and shortly after, they danced their way into marriage on April 20, 1939. Her husband Lou was promoted to Furnace Foreman at the Bethlehem Steel while Mary, for a brief time, worked at the Silk Mill in Bethlehem. Shortly after leaving the Silk Mill, she happily took on the role of a homemaker raising two boys, Louis, Jr. and Ronald. Marys family were members of Saint Annes Parish for over 60 years. She was an incredible baker, loved playing cards with her sisters and definitely had the “gambling” bug from time to time. Surviving is her son, Ronald, aka Chris Lucas, of Bethlehem who was her caretaker until her demise. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her son: Louis, Jr.; brothers: Frank Resetar and Louis Resetar; sisters: Anne Troiano and Irene Altimare all of whom lived in Bethlehem. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Annes Parish, 450 E Washington Ave, Bethlehem with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Guests will be asked to wear masks and follow social distancing practices. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimers Association, 617 Main St A, Hellertown, PA 18055.
