Mary A. Vanya

Mary A. Sandor Vanya, 81, of Bethlehem Township died peacefully Tuesday,

November 27, 2007 at St. Luke?s Hospital in Bethlehem.

Born November 8, 1926 in Bethlehem she was the daughter of the late John Sandor and Mary Szena Sandor Korody.

She was married to Stephen R. Vanya who died in October 1993 and was reunited with him on their 54th anniversary, November 28, 2007.

Prior to her marriage Mary worked in the family grocery store/gas station,

which included the local post office in Miller Heights. She was a life-long member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Miller Heights. Throughout her life she was a dedicated volunteer, including service with Girl Scouting and at Sacred Heart School, Bethlehem and Notre Dame High School. She served on the board of the Heights St. Joseph Federal Credit Union. She was also very active in many parish organizations. Mary started a family tradition of baking and designing specialty cakes for various occasions for family and friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary K. Vanya at home,

son, Stephen Steve and wife Maryann of Bethlehem, brother, Tibor A.

Sandor of Florida, and sister, Ilona J. Romanell of Freemansburg. Mary is

also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great

great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her three brothers: John, Tivador, and

Edward James Sandor.

SERVICES

A viewing will be held Sunday, December 2, 2007 from 4-8 pm and again

Monday, December 3, 2007 from 8:30-9:30 am at Connell Funeral Home, Inc.

245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem. A service will be held in the funeral home

Monday, December 3, 2007 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial

at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1817 First St., Bethlehem, PA

18020.

Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to the church or Sacred

Heart Catholic School.
