Mary Ann Ahern

Mary Eells Ahern, 88, of Bethlehem, died on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Country Meadows Retirement Community in Bethlehem Twp.

Mary was born May 26, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA; the daughter of the late William and Helen McCarthy Eells.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Lt. Col. James J. Ahern. Lt. Col Ahern died on July 24, 2008.

Mary dedicated her life to her family and will be lovingly remembered by her son; James J. Ahern Jr. Judy of Narberth; daughter, Maryellen P. Ahern-Dodson, MD, Donald Dodson, M.D. of Saucon Valley; and son Dr. Thomas S. Ahern, M.D., Susan of Coronado, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Sean, Conor, Brendan, Thomas Sean, Meghan, Patrick and Caitlin and three step grandchildren, Elizabeth, and Maggie Dodson and Sarah Dodson Beach as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Funeral arrangements have been made with the guidance of Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem.

A viewing will be held from 5-6:30 PM on Friday, October 29, 2010 at St. Anne's Catholic Church 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following the viewing at 6:30 PM in the church.

Mary will be interred with her husband James at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. on November 2, 2010 at 9AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne's Church Education Fund 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017
