Mary C. Stefanik

Mary C. Stefanik, 94, died peacefully in her sleep June 29 at Holy Family Manor where she was a resident since 2005. Born in Steelton, PA to Stanley and Michaelena Romaniczyn Pasternak on June 21, 1915. She moved with her parents to Bethlehem in 1929.

Mary was the loving wife of John J. Stefanik who passed in 1974. Her loving daughter Jeannette Stefanik Scherbak also preceded her in death in 2005.

Mary was a loving, devoted wife and mother who enjoyed baking, gardening, playing cards, and traveling to see her children and grandchildren in Utah, California, Massachusetts, Montana, New York and Pennsylvania. She will be sadly missed by her entire family, all of whom will have many fond memories of her pleasant smile and happy demeanor, her delicious pastries and other fine foods which she enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Mary touched many lives in a positive way and her absence will be felt.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Richard Stefanik husband of Lois of Los Gatos, CA and Donald Stefanik husband of Diane of Liberty, UT, sister, Ann M. Horbelt of Easton, son-in-law, William Scherbak of Bethlehem and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Michael, Walter and Anthony Pasternak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, July 18, 2009 at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem. Viewing will be held at 10 AM at the church prior to the Mass. Internment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mary's name to Holy Family Manor, 1200 Spring St., Bethlehem or to the church.
