Mary Ann Cech, 76, of Bethlehem, passed away on May 15, 2024. She was born on December 11, 1947, in Bethlehem, the daughter of the late Valent and Margaret (Timko) Cech. She will be dearly missed by her brother, Bill Cech, as well as by her friends and extended family. Though she is no longer with us, Mary will always remain in the memories of those who knew her.
Until her death, Mary worked in the Payroll Department of St. Luke's University Health Network, a job she held for an impressive 57 years. Coincidentally, her death came 57 years to the day after starting as a Payroll Assistant at St. Luke's shortly after graduating from Bethlehem Catholic High School. Mary enjoyed her job, was proud of her work, and appreciated her colleagues.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Mary had a passion for sports. She was a loyal supporter of the New York Yankees baseball team and the Notre Dame University football team. Her enthusiasm for these teams reflected her spirited nature and unwavering loyalty to those she cared about. Mary also enjoyed cooking and baking. She was especially proud of her homemade filling, a recipe she inherited from her mother.
Mary was friendly, quiet, and always willing to lend a hand. She leaves a legacy of tolerance and generosity. She was a good sister, a good coworker, and a good person. As we mourn her untimely and unexpected death, we can find comfort in the memories we have of her, and we can honor the qualities of kindness and dedication that defined Mary's life.
