Mary Chando

July 20, 1921 — September 2, 2010

Mary Chando, 89, of Bethlehem, surrounded by her loving family , died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Moravian Village in Bethlehem. Born July 20, 1921, Mary was the eldest child of the late Michael and Susan Billetz Bandurich.

Mary was the wife of Stephen Chando, Sr. celebrating 55 years of marriage until his death on August 6, 2004. She graduated from Bethlehem High School in 1938. She worked as a seamstress for Trio Togs in Bethlehem Township for 14 years before her retirement. Mary was a lifelong member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Bethlehem and the GCU. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors: sons, Stephen Chando, Jr. husband of Rebecca of Bethlehem; Peter Chando husband of Wendy of Catasauqua; daughter, Susan, wife of James J. McGee, III of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Christopher Chando, Tanya, wife of Robert Flecksteiner, Benjamin Chando, Gregory Chando, Amanda McGee, wife of Sara Hendricks, Danielle McGee, fianc of Joseph Fortunato and Alexandra Chando; great-grandchildren, Tavia and Nathan Flecksteiner; sisters, Eleanor, wife of William Antol of Bethlehem Township; and Joan Vargo of Hellertown. She was predeceased by infant son, Michael, brother, Michael and sisters, Anna and Evelyn Vuksta.

Services: Panachida will be held 9AM Tuesday September 7, 2010 at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa. followed by Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy 10AM at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church 1140 Johnston Dr. Bethlehem, Pa. 18017. A viewing will be held 7-9PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Parastas will be held at 7 p.m.

Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
