Mary E. Lawler

Mary E. Catsirmas Svetecz- Lawler, 73, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at St.Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem. Born February 10, 1937 in Bethlehem she was the daughter of the late Emma Conway and George Catsirmas. She was married to the late Joseph Lawler.

Mary worked at Allentown Central Catholic High School as the Guidance Director. She also taught for 18 years in the Allentown Catholic Diocese at St. Joseph?s Catholic School, Ss. Cyril and Methodist Catholic School and Phillipsburg Catholic. She was a very active educator being involved with groups such as the Catholic Education Association, American Counseling Association, Pennsylvania School Counselors and the American School Counseling Association. She was a member of the former St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Bethlehem and currently a member at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Bethlehem.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Richard E. Svetecz, Jr. and wife Debra of Bethlehem, PA, Michael John Svetecz and wife Catherine of Lititz, PA and Joseph M. Lawler and wife Amanda of Emmaus, PA, daughter, Teresa Lawler-Kershaw of Snowhill, NC, brothers, Manuel DeLeon and William DeLeon. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Caroline DeLeon and Catherine Zuk and one granddaughter, Kathleen Schmidt-Moore.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-9 PM. A calling hour will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 9:30-10:30 AM at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church 730 W. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem, PA
