Mary Ellen Mitchell

Mary Ellen Mitchell, 94, of Bethlehem died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Westminster Village in Allentown.

Born May 29, 1914 in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late Freida Foster and Augustus Mesmer. She was married for 56 years to Harry A. Mitchell who passed away in 1994.

Mary worked for the Bethlehem Area School District for 15 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Mary was a member of St. Anne's Sodality and SWASA. She was also a member at the YMCA.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Harry A. Mitchell and wife Priscilla of Collegeville, Pa. and David C. Mitchell and wife Patricia of Quakertown, Pa., daughters, Mary Margaret Brunner and husband August of Pleasant Valley, Pa., Alice Schuster and husband Fred of Bethlehem, Pa. and Joan Fistner and husband Paul of Bethlehem, Pa., brother, William Mesmer of DuBarry, Fl., sisters, Freida Emmerick of Sewell, NJ and Clare O'Leary of Delran, NJ. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Mesmer and Augustus Mesmer, sisters, Helen Keck, Theresa Brining, and Gertrude Tremmel.

SERVICES

A viewing will be held Saturday, January 17, 2009 at St. Anne's Catholic Church 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017 from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem. Arrangements Connell Funeral Home.
