Mary Genevieve Thomas Crossley, 93, of Upper Black Eddy, PA died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Hospice of the of St. Luke's in Bethlehem, PA.

Born September 2, 1915 in Renova, PA she was the daughter of the late Emily Elnora Fye and William S. Thomas. She was married to John G. Crossley, who passed away in 1992.

Mary was a graduate of Montoursville High School. After graduating she went to work for the Warshow Silk Mills. Later on she became a typesetter and proofreader for the Intelligencer Newspaper. She was known for making sticky buns and reciting poetry. She did crossword puzzles to the end. Her favorite saying was "its more important to be kind than to be correct." Mary had a fondness for children not only for her own but for any child.

Mary is survived by her son, John William Crossley of Erwin, PA, daughters; Noralyn Crossley of Upper Black Eddy, PA, Nancy Hicks of Bealton, VA, and Judy Huffstedler of Hebbronville, TX, and her sister Evelyn Russie of Campbell, CA. She will also be remembered by 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by a daughter Claudia Davis.

SERVICES

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 1:30 PM at Montoursville Cemetery 1401 Broad St., Montoursville, PA 17754. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 10, 2009 at Shepherd of the Valley Church, 45 Spring Mills Road, Milford, NJ 08848 at 12:00 PM

Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Crossley Fund care of Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
