Mary J. (Mamay) Ford, 78, of Bethlehem, passed away in her home on Friday, November 6, 2015. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Susanna (Beno) Mamay.
After graduating from Bethlehem Catholic High School, she worked in the business office at the Allentown State Hospital. Upon her marriage to the late James R. Ford, she lived in Madrid, Spain and Northampton, England while her husband served in the United States Air Force. She later worked as a salesclerk for Fotomat and C & J Photo. Mary was a lifelong member of Incarnation of our Lord Parish, Bethlehem (formerly SS Cyril & Methodius Slovak Catholic Church). She was also a lifelong member of the Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union, serving in various leadership roles at both the local and national level. Mary was extremely proud of her Slovak heritage, and loved to share stories of her family in Europe, and the history of the Slovak community in Bethlehem.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Matthew Clemens. Survivors: Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marie S. Clemens of Salisbury Township; brother, Stephen and Sandra Mamay Jr. of Hellertown; and sister Catherine and Louis Repyneck of Hellertown, as well as many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. She is also survived by her 20-year-old feline companion, Crystal.
Services: A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 12, at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem PA 18018 from 7-9 p.m. A viewing will also be held on Friday, November 13, from 9-10 a.m at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish, 617 Pierce St. Bethlehem, PA 18015, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marys name can be made to Incarnation of our Lord Parish, 617 Pierce Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015; School Sisters of St. Francis, 395 Bridle Path Road, Bethlehem, PA 18017; or Phoebe Richland Health Center, 108 S. Main Street, Richlandtown, PA 18955.
