Mary L. Spirk

Mary L. Spirk, 93, of Bethlehem, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015. Born in Pottsville on February 4, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Rose (Loprete) and Theodosio Soda. She was the wife of the late John F. Spirk, Sr. who died in 2006; they were married 62 years. Mary was employed by Western Electric and retired in 1983. She was a member of the Pioneers Club, UNICO, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Rosemary Spirk Hensel; son John “Jack” Spirk, Jr. and wife Marian; sister Joann “Jennie” Harrison; grandchildren: Drew Hensel and wife Tanya, Maria, John, Kathryn, and Michael Spirk; great-granddaughters Leah and Erika Hensel. She was predeceased by her infant son John Ralph; brothers Ralph and Frank; and sisters Lucy and Rose.

Viewing hours will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Tuesday, March 31st from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and again on Wednesday, April 1st from 9:30 to 10 a.m. A 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem. Entombment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Northampton County or the Salvation Army of Bethlehem.
