Mary Louise Vogt-Kaye

Mary Louise Keeler Vogt-Kaye, 83, of Emmaus, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 26, 2011.

She was born January 4, 1928 in Lansdowne, PA, the daughter of the late Louis Love and Marcelline Meyer Keeler.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by: her husband Lawrence DeVaney Vogt, second husband John Kaye, her sisters, Marcelline Keeler Sullivan and Anne Keeler McBride, her brother William Keeler and her son in law William L. Lampe Jr.

Mary Lou was a beloved mother to her daughters, Mary L. Benner & her husband Bob of Toms River, N.J.; Kate Lampe of Emmaus, PA; Chrissy DaRe & her husband Tony of Mifflinville, PA; Jeannie Vogt and Liz Jordon both of Emmaus, PA. She will live in the hearts of her 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren as well as a sister Bernadine Abbott & her husband Joseph of Newtown Square, PA and a brother, Dr. Louis Keeler & his wife Morrie of Cherry Hill, NJ.

Modeling a life of continued learning and personal growth, Mary Lou graduated from Moravian College in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She continued her study of music practicing complicated classical works on her baby grand piano. She played the organ and keyboard for St. Joseph the Worker in Orefield, was a dedicated volunteer for the Allentown Art Museum and Zoellner Arts Center as well as an active member of Soroptimist International of Emmaus. She took great delight participating in the Emmaus library book club. Mary Lou was a competitive golfer in a local women's league and relished the occasional victory over her grandsons. She enjoyed full, rich friendships - old and new. To her family she is strength, love and wisdom. She will be remembered as a beloved sister, a mother, a proud grandmother and an adoring great grandmother.

A visitation will be held at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 6-8 PM with a candle lighting tribute to conclude the evening.

Additional viewing will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church 1879 Applewood Dr. Orefield, PA 18069 on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 9:15-10:15 AM. Guests are invited to a eulogy conveyed by family at 10:30AM in the church and a Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11 AM.

Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Emmaus.
