Mary M. Morecz

Mary M. Morecz, age 102, of Bethlehem passed away peacefully on Thursday February 23, 2017 at her home. She was born on January 7, 1915 in Bethlehem and was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Polt) Ripper. She was the wife of the late Stephen Morecz, to whom she was married for 49 years. Mary was a lifetime resident of Bethlehem and a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. She began her career as a secretary for Roller Smith and Just Born Candy Company in Bethlehem and was an executive secretary at Moravian College for 25 years, retiring in 1978.

Mary was the youngest child of a large, tight-knit family and has been joyfully reunited with her husband, siblings and many friends. She was an avid card player, a Perry Como fan and an accomplished baker. Her abundant cookie and cupcake recipes brought happiness to her friends and family. Mary enjoyed traveling to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially on Cape Cod. She enjoyed the laughter and support of her wonderful caregivers and the family would like to extend thanks to each of them.

She will be lovingly remembered by her, son, Richard S. Morecz and wife Barbara of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, daughter Judith Anne Simpson of York, Pennsylvania, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her seven brothers and sisters and her son-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday February 28, 2017 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church located at 417 Carlton Avenue in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church prior to the mass. Burial will be held at Holy Ghost Cemetery immediately following the mass.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 417 Carlton Avenue, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18015 or a favorite charity.
