Mary M. Piechota

Mary M. Piechota, 87, of Bethlehem, died on Sunday, November 09, 2014 at St. Lukes Hospital. She was born December 14, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre, PA; daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Hudak) Michaels. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley F. Piechota. They were married January 31, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in Wilkes-Barre. Mary worked for AT&T and later Lucent. She was part of the Lucent Pioneer clowns and was a member of the Lucent Huggy Bears. Mary volunteered her time at Gracedale Nursing Home and loved to babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a wonderful cook and baker. Mary was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where she was a member of the ladies and senior groups and often volunteered to clean the church.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Joan Voytko and her husband, Forrest of Lower Nazareth Twp.; Janet A. Fandl and her husband, James T. of East Allen Twp. and Mark M. Piechota of Bethlehem; as well as her daughter-in-law, Joanne Piechota; seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her son, Greg Piechota; sister, Helen Schiffl and brothers, George and Frank.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Another visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 10-11 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial both at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
