Mary Mertens Petruccelli

Mary Mertens Petruccelli, 73, of Bethlehem, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Saturday August 10, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Health Network's Hospice Unit. She was the daughter of Alfred and Catherine Mertens of Allentown. Born in New York City, she was raised in Allentown, PA. She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Sacred Heart School of Nursing. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dr. Francis Petruccelli. She has three surviving children, Donna Frances Petruccelli of Bethlehem, with whom she resided; Catherine Marie Bryan, spouse of Michael Bryan of Falls Church, VA; and Lisa Cecilia Petruccelli of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Peter and Ann Marie Bryan; brother, John Mertens; godsons, Fred Mertens and Dr. Joseph Zaladonis, Jr.; goddaughter, Marge Volpe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, August 16 at the Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem. An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church and Lehigh Valley Health Network Cardiology & Cardiothoracic Surgery, who saved her life in 2009 and gave her the gift of 4 quality years.
