Mary T. Engle

March 30, 1923 — February 20, 2021

Mary T. (Vetrosky) Engle, 97, of Allentown passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Manor Care Senior Living in Bethlehem. She was the loving wife of the late James C. Engle for 60 years, until his passing on July 11, 2002. Mary was born on March 30, 1923 in Bethlehem. She was the daughter of the late Andrew P. and Suzanna (Bandzura) Vetrosky.

Mary worked for the Roller-Smith Company and Almart Department Store in Bethlehem and Allen Organ Company in Macungie. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the First Catholic Slovak Union Home Association - Cardinal Tompko Chapter and a faithful member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church. Mary had many interests and hobbies, especially travel, photography, cooking and doll collecting. She was also an ardent animal lover and owned a variety of toy poodles. Mary and her husband Jim were avid travelers and some of their most memorable destinations were Africa, Egypt and Slovakia. She was outgoing and friendly and formed many long and lasting friendships, touching the lives of everyone she met. Mary was feisty, kind and thoughtful with a zest for life that was incomparable. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Survivors: Sister-in-law, Gale Vetrosky of Bethlehem, brother-in-law, Robert Capkovic of Bethlehem and brother-in-law Francis Thomas of Fountain Hill along with many nieces, nephews and godchildren. In addition to her husband Jim, she was predeceased by her brothers James and Andrew J. Vetrosky; sisters, Helen (Peggy) Galassi, Anna Bujcs, Pauline Capkovic, Joan Thomas and nephews A.J. Vetrosky and Wayne Maurer.

Services: A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 9 -10 a.m. at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church 1861 Catasauqua Road Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the church with interment immediately following at Cedar Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum 1700 Airport Road Allentown, PA 18109.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marys memory to The American Heart Association 212 E. Broad Street Bethlehem, PA 18018 or to The Lehigh County Humane Society 640 Dixon Street Allentown, PA 18103.
