Matilda Esteves

Matilda Esteves, 92, of Bethlehem, Pa. passed away on Wednesday July 16, 2014 at Sacred Heart Senior Living in Center Valley, Pa. She was born on June 4, 1922 in Freeland, Pa., daughter of the late Manuel and Gloria (Martins) Barros. She was the wife of the late Jose S. Esteves. Matilda was the owner and operator of the former Tillies Lunch in Bethlehem. She was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church. She was also a member of the Bethlehem Senior Citizens, Bowling Senior Citizens, and the Autumn Club.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Manuel Esteves and wife Barbara and daughter Olivia Vargo and husband John all of Bethlehem, grandchildren, John, Brian, Brenda, and Chris; and 5 great grandchildren; brother, Joseph Barros and wife Antoinette of Philadelphia, sisters, Olivia Yenser of Slatington, and Gloria DeSousa and husband Joseph of Lehighton. She was predeceased by her son, Jose S. Esteves Jr., and a brother, Anthony Barros.

A viewing will be held Saturday morning July 19, 2014 from 8-9:30AM at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018. Services will be held 9:30AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10AM at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
