Michael E. Ambrose, age 93, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown. Mr. Ambrose was born on May 27, 1921, in Camden, NJ; the only child of the late Michael A. Ambrose and Evangeline Ambrose. He was married for 67 years to Helen A. (Aldinger) Ambrose.
Mr. Ambrose served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, aboard the U.S.S. Bainbridge in the Pacific theater. Following his service, he was employed at Union Garage in Bethlehem, then by the County of Northampton, and by the Bethlehem Steel Corp. Mr. Ambrose was a member of St. Anne's Church and the MORA Club of Bethlehem.
Mr. Ambrose was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed music and literature. He was also a craftsman, who constructed many additions and improvements to his home. He maintained a life-long love of cars.
Mr. Ambrose is survived by his wife, Helen, now at Saucon Valley Manor. He is also survived by his nephews, Kevin J. Kelleher of Bethlehem and his wife, Bonnie; John J. Kelleher, Jr. of Hellertown and his wife, Susan; grand-nephew Patrick Kelleher, and grand-nieces, Kathleen Kelleher, Megan Kelleher and Morgan Kelleher.
Mr. Ambrose will be buried on Thursday, June 19, at 11 AM, at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
