Michael J. Check

Michael J. Check, 53, of Hellertown passed on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at St.Lukes Hospital.

He was born in Bethlehem, the son of Richard A. Check, Sr. of Bethlehem and the late Matilda Berry Check.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Patricia S. Check of Hellertown.

He was a graduate of Freedom High School and later graduated with honors from DeSales University.

Michael was very proud to work with his coworkers at Banko Distributing Co. in Plumsteadville, where he was employed for 34 years. He began his career in 1974 as a college student and later became the Warehouse Manager. Mike was also a member of Teamsters Local 830 and was elected as Shop Steward.

Michael will be lovingly remembered by his family, wife, Patricia; father, Richard; children, Daniel E. Check and his wife Colleen of Valley Forge and Alyssa M. Check and her fianc Douglas Demko of Allentown. He is also survived by his brother Richard A. Check, Jr. husband of Joanne and his sister Kathleen A. wife of Robert Rosar all of Hellertown, as well as his extended family and his dog Sasha.

Michael enjoyed working outdoors, the beach, and was a sports fan. Earlier in life, Michael would travel on his motorcycle, but he especially loved spending time with his family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 7-9PM at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem PA 18018 and again on Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 8-9AM at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10AM at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, 1408 Easton Rd. Hellertown PA 18055.

Burial will be held at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association 2121 City Line Rd. #2 Bethlehem PA 18017, or to the church or a charity of one's choice.
