Michael J. Onesky

Michael J. Onesky, 85, of Lower Saucon Twp., died April 21, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late John and Pauline Kopchuk Onesky. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Ann W. Wichot Onesky who died March 11, 2004.

Michael worked for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Pottstown, for 34 years, before retiring in September of 1980. His last position was a Department Manager in the Processing Department. He graduated from Central High School in Scranton in January 1941. He was a member of St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church of Bethlehem where he served as Trustee for over 50 years and was Chairman of the Church Building Committee. He was an officer of the Truzub Society, the Holy Name Society and a life member of the Ukrainian American Democratic Association in Bethlehem where he served as the Secretary/Treasurer since 1951.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Marlene A. Onesky of Towson, MD; Daria A., wife of Joseph J. LeSanto, Jr. of Waltham, MA; and his two grandchildren, Lauren and Michael LeSanto and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Jr. and Paul Onesky.

Services: Visitation will be held, Friday, April 24, 2009, at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-9 p.m. with a Parastas Service at 7 p.m. Another visitation will be held, Saturday, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by an Office of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1826 Kenmore Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will follow at St. Josaphat's Cemetery.
