Mildred C. Schappell, 86, of Tulsa, OK, died on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Fremont - Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville, CA
Born May 24, 1920 in Fullerton, PA, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Mabel Snyder Reid.
She was married to Kenneth David Schappell for 34 years prior to his death in 1975.
Mildred followed the Christian Faith and taught Sunday School, however, her true ministry was to her family. She embraced life, raising three girls of her own, they attended Girl Scouts where she served as a Scout Leader and was delighted to help raise her granddaughter Sandra and influence her other grand and great grandchildren. In her younger years she was the Director of Social Services at Sandia Army Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mildred reached out and touched many peoples lives, having fun with her husband playing golf, bridge, pinochle and bowling. She will always be respected and remembered for her warmth, generosity, caring and steadfast love for family and friend.
SURVIVORS She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Ann Irene Fenchel of Las Vegas, NM, Edith Margaret Kraycik and husband Donald of Tulsa, Okla. and Mary Ellen Mann and husband Ronald W. of Yuba City, Calif., a sister Grace Pyle of Lenhartsville, Pa., granddaughters Sandra Jones of Portland, Ore., Jacqueline Straley & Kimberly Schulmeister both of Las Cruces, NM, Dannette Skidmore of San Jose, Calif. and Mindy Mann of Santa Barbara, Calif., grandsons Ron Mann of Elk Grove, Calif., Ken Mann of Las Vegas, Nev. and Stefan Kraycik of Tulsa, Okla., great-granddaughters Alicia & Lauren Mann both of Elk Grove, Calif. and Diane Schulmeister & Hannah Straley both of Las Cruces, NM, great-grandsons Jonathan Daniel Lucero of Indianapolis, Ind., Kevin & Michael Schulmeister of Las Cruces, NM, Kyle Mann of Elk Grove, Calif., David Tonini of Las Vegas, Nev., Robert F. Jones of Portland, Ore. and a great-great-grandson-Jonathan Daniel Lucero, II of Indianapolis, Ind.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
SERVICES
A Funeral Service will be held at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 12:30 PM
Friends may call from 10:30 to time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, in Allentown, PA
