Mildred D. Hudak

December 8, 1928 — March 1, 2023

Mildred "Millie" Woomer Hudak, 94, of Bethlehem passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2023 at home surrounded by family. Born on December 8, 1928 in Bound Brook, NJ, the daughter of the late Inez (Schieber) and Paul Diehl. She was the loving wife of the late Thomas J. Hudak, Sr.

Millie was fiercely loyal and would do anything to support her family and many friends. Whether it was being called into the principal's office to defend a wayward child or being summoned to come to the aid of a friend, she would do it with a tenacity that was unmatched. The only thing that could possibly have matched Millie's loyalty to her family would most likely be her amazing work ethic. Her remarkable work ethic led to her excelling in both her military-wife career of 25+ years, as well as her 21-year career as an administrator with Northampton County Area Community College, where she touched the lives of thousands of students and faculty members over the years.

Millie's life as a military wife took her from the beaches of New Jersey to Coronado Island to Key West and beyond, all while raising six children literally on her own. She even found time to lead numerous volunteer efforts for the Navy, that led to her receiving countless awards and commendations.

In her later years, Millie took great pride in leading volunteer efforts at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, as well as St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Edward Woomer (Karen), Joseph Woomer (Vickie), and Dennis Woomer (Linda); daughters, Kathleen Crago and Bridget McEnrue (Martin); stepson, Thomas J. Hudak, Jr. (Barbara); stepdaughter, Judy Tupper; 22 greatly loved grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Millie was preceded in death by her son, Edward Joseph Woomer; daughter, Patricia Wildgen and her husband, Michael; granddaughter, Melissa Wildgen; brothers, Jake Diehl, Bernard Diehl and James Diehl and sister, Lois Masessa.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
