Miriam Eddy

Miriam H. Eddy, 97, of Bethlehem, died on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at her residence.

She was born April 30, 1911 in Wind Gap, PA the daughter of the late Albert J. Sloggett and Edna Wagner Harding.

Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Roswell S. Eddy.

She was a 1931 graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, where she worked until 1977. Later that year, she became a supervisor at the Zohlman Nursing Home in Richlandtown and continued there for 10 years. After retirement she became a volunteer courier for the operating room at St. Luke's Hospital until 1998.

Miriam enjoyed participating in many non profit walk/running races which continued well into her late 80's.

She was the former financial secretary for both St. Paul's Church in Applebachsville, Bucks County and St. Luke's Retired Private Duty Nurses Club until 1993.

Miriam was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Bethlehem

Miriam is survived by her daughters, Marcia Eddy of Kutztown and Patricia wife of William Sharp of Aspen, CO as well as her son David S. Eddy of New York, NY; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her second cousin Betty Berhil of Wind Gap, PA

Miriam was also predeceased by her daughter Barbara Stewart and great granddaughter Lily Wilks.

Arrangements have been made with the guidance of Connell Funeral Home, Inc. Bethlehem.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 from 11-11:30 AM at Salem Lutheran Church 537 High St. Bethlehem PA 18018 with a service to immediately follow at the church at 11:30AM.

Burial will be held at Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield Twp.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
