Miriam Parker

Miriam Parker, 92, of Bethlehem passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at home with her family by her side. Born May 11, 1925 in Lehighton, she was the daughter of the late Rebecca (Nothstein) and Calvin Haas. She was married to John C. Parker for 58 years until his death on March 5, 2010.

Miriam worked as a waitress at Walps restaurant in Allentown, where she met her husband. She later worked at Coopersburg Diner. She ran a gift shop business out of her home and held in-home parties throughout the Lehigh Valley. She was co-owner of Parkers Gifts. She and her husband handcrafted, patched, and painted various lawn ornaments. After retiring at the age of 84, Miriam kept busy volunteering for Lehigh Christian Academy and Operation Christmas Child through Nelson Randolphs Ministry.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Dr. Jacqueline Parker wife of Dr. Barry Silver and Cynthia wife of Jay Musselman, brother, Hilbert Haas and wife Fran, sister, Bette Mae Forsythe, grandchildren, Jason and wife Meggan, Jill and husband Benjamin, Lindsay and Dan, and great grandchildren, Parker, Corban, Tess and Lucy. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Madeline Follweiler, Mildred Garvin, Ruth Rabenold and a brother, Robert Haas.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, PA 18103 from 9-10 AM followed by a service at 10 AM. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Arrangements Connell Funeral Home, Inc.
