Miriam W. "Penny" Hartney, 82, of Bethlehem, died Monday, June 18, 2007 in her home. She was born April 9, 1925 in Hecktown, PA the daughter of the late Charles F. and Ellen B. Updegrove Zellner. She was the loving wife of the late Benson B. Hartney, Jr. who died in 1999. They were married for 53 years.
She was a 1943 graduate of Nazareth High School and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Bethlehem. She worked as a salesclerk for the former Bush and Bull in Bethlehem and also worked as a sorter for the former Pembroke Dress Company.
Miriam was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be loved and cherished forever by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Benson B. Hartney, III & his wife Patricia, Gary L. Hartney & his wife Susan W., daughters, Pamela L. Fischel, Wendy E., wife of R. Charles Stehly, with whom Miriam resided, all of Bethlehem, a sister, Alida E. Zappe, of Kutztown; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kimberly, Shawn, Michael, Mark, Jeff, Rob, Christine, Eric, Amber and Alyssa and 8 great-grandchildren, Maggie, Jordan, Austin, Logan, Gage, Ajane, Qahron & Tristen. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles F. Kratzer, Wilson H. Zellner and Maurice A. Zellner and a sister, Eva M. Vincent.
