Nicholas R. Alderiso

August 24, 1926 — February 10, 2017

Nicholas R. Alderiso, 90, of Bethlehem, died peacefully with the love and support of his family on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Lehigh Center in Macungie. Born in Newark, NJ he was the son of the late Margaret (Bravoco) and Michael Alderiso. He was the loving husband of Dolores (Schloerb) Alderiso with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage this past October 24th. He lived in Metuchen NJ for most of his life before moving to Bethlehem.

Nick was an owner and operator of Alderiso Brothers, Inc. in Newark, NJ which he built into one of the largest produce companies on the East Coast. He was also very active in his home community volunteering much of his time as a Pop Warner football coach and baseball coach. Nick was the co-founder and past president of the Metuchen Sports Booster Club and was an active member of the Metuchen Recreation Commission. He also had a passion for horse racing and breeding horses. Nick and his wife co-owned Sonny Acres Farms in Colts Neck, Monmouth County, NJ. Nick was an avid NY Giants, San Francisco Giants and NY Yankees fan. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially the many years spent together at the New Jersey shore.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dolores, children, Michael Alderiso and his wife Nancy, Donna Novak and her husband John, Nick Alderiso and his wife Fulvia, Jean Mercade and her husband Iggy, Jamie Alderiso and his wife Tish, brother, Richard Alderiso and his wife Patricia, sister-in-law Evelyn Laraway, grandchildren, April Harrison and husband Greg, Nicholas R. Alderiso, John Novak, Tara Webb and husband Chris, Nicholas, Erik and Lorenzo Alderiso, Michael Mercade, Anthony Mercade and wife Abbie, Elena Nigito and husband Jon, Jamie and Jessica Alderiso, and 13 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and four grand dogs. He was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Alderiso and his wife Rosemary and sister, Nancy Travisano and her husband Peter.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-9 PM and again Saturday morning, February 18, 2017 from 9-10 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020 at 11 AM. Inurnment will be at Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery.
