O. August Cruche

O. August Cruche, 88, of Bethlehem, died on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke's in Bethlehem. He was born in Portugal, the son of the late Anibal and Maria Cabral Cruche. He was the loving husband of the late Mary Ryan Cruche who died in 2002.

August worked for the Bethlehem Area School District for many years and retired as the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of Church of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary in Colesville.

August will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Jacqualyn Baab and Kathryn, wife of Francis Roseman, two sisters, Ida Bemposto and Edna Teles, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Cruche and his wife, Maura, three brothers and three sisters.

Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.
