Paul A. Harris

December 10, 1921 — February 10, 2008

Paul J. Harris, 86, of Bethlehem died on Sunday, Feb.10, 2008 at Muhlenberg Hospital. He and his wife, Mary A. Concilio Harris celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary last May. Born in Bethlehem, Mr. Harris was the son of the late Rankin and Jenny Skinner Harris.

He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and then as the branch manager for the Butztown Post Office. He retired on 12/10/1976, his 55th birthday.

He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem. He was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army, Company "L", 413th Infantry Regiment and was injured at the Battle of the Bulge.

Paul very much enjoyed fishing and regular trips to the casinos with his wife. He had a quick mind for numbers and was very proud of the fact that all 8 of his children went to college.

He was a graduate of Liberty High School, class of 1939, the Army Specialized Training Program at the University of Delaware and the Bethlehem Business College.

He is survived by his wife Mary, 5 daughters; Mary Eleanor, wife of Robert J. Byrne of Powell, Wyoming, Jane A., wife of John Swiderski of McKinney, Texas, Nancy H., wife of Gerald Davidson of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Joan E., wife of Michael Connelly of Bethlehem Sarah, wife of James Ofalt of Telford, and 3 sons; James M. and his wife Carole A. of Richboro, PA, Lawrence P. of Allentown and Thomas A. and his wife Priscilla A. of Bethlehem. Also surviving is a sister, Gloria Collins of Brighton, Colorado and 16 grandchildren. Mr. Harris was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 in St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem at 11:00 AM. There will be a calling hour from

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM in the church on Thursday.
