Paul E. Newhardt, 88 of Bethlehem, died Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Mickaline (Fattore) Newhardt and the son of the late Robert W. and Bertha (Kilpatrick) Newhardt.
Paul was an active member of Trinity UCC Church on North St. in Bethlehem and St. Pauls UCC in Northampton. He served during WWII and was honorably discharged as a Corporal in the 1383rd Army Air Force base stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a craftsman who was always busy with woodworking and other craft projects. He made 100s of matchstick crosses he gave away to church groups and friends. Paul worked at Bethlehem Floor Covering for 32 years. He retired from Bell Labs Western Electric/Lucent after 14 years. He was a member of Carpenters Union 600 and a member of the American Legion Post 0379.
Survivors: children, Maryann Gehringer and her husband Robert of Bethlehem, Tim Newhardt and his wife Beth of Bethlehem, Jill Garger and her husband Richard of Northampton; sisters, Helen Becker and Ruth Wolfe; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 9-10 AM followed by a funeral service at Trinity UCC Church, 81 E. North St., Bethlehem, 18018 at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Pauls name to the charity of ones choice.
