Pauline Chernaskey Kasick

June 7, 1926 — April 24, 2022

Pauline Chernaskey Kasick, 95, of Allentown, passed away on Sunday morning, April 24, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Pauline entered the Kingdom of God on Day of the Resurrection (Easter) in the Eastern Orthodox Church. She was born June 7, 1926 in Bethlehem; daughter to the late Roman and Fiona (Orischak) Chernaskey. Pauline was the devoted wife of 59 years to the late Samuel Kasick.

Pauline was raised in the Heights, Southside Bethlehem, where she learned the importance of family. Pauline lived her life for family and faith. She enjoyed nothing more than to be surrounded by family during religious holidays. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was happy to bring the ones she loved around the table.

Earlier in life, Pauline worked as a seamstress at R.K. Laros, as a bindery worker at Chernay Printing, and beside her husband as owners and operators of Imperial Cleaners, located at Seventh and Liberty streets in Allentown, Sam in the front measuring pants and Pauline at the blindstitch machine in the back room, until retiring in 1995.

Paulines faith brought her much peace. She and her husband Sam were members of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Bethlehem. Sam and his “Kiddo” enjoyed many activities together over the years, including dancing, rides in the car, watching their favorite television shows, and many trips to the casino with friends. One of the stories Pauline liked to tell is how she and Sam met at a dance on New Years Eve 1948 where Sam declared “Im going to marry that girl!” On November 5, 1949, they were married. Sam passed away on May 24, 2009. Later, Pauline resided at Fellowship Community in Whitehall and then at Devon House in Allentown. Pauline enjoyed playing bingo several times a week and completing her word search puzzles. She most enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren.

Pauline was the matriarch of her family. She dedicated her life to her family and cared deeply for the well being of those she loved. She was full of wisdom, and we always listened because we knew she had our best interests at heart. She would look in a loved ones eyes and tell them “I love you” many times, accompanied by a hug and a kiss. She was warm and welcoming, always making sure we were happy, healthy, and well fed.

In addition to her beloved husband, Sam, she was preceded in death by her brother John Tronovich and by all of her other siblings and their spouses: twin brother Paul C. Chernay (Betty Jo), Anna Tronovich Lasko (Joe), Eva Tronovich Klock (Nick), Tessie Chernaskey Check (“Mickey”), Mary Chernaskey Kroboth (“Charlie”), Catherine Chernaskey Rocco (Carl), Helen Chernaskey Fella (Rudy), and Raymond Chernaskey (Mary).

She will be dearly missed by son, Atty. Samuel R. Kasick, and his wife Marj, of Coopersburg; daughter, Nadia P. Saba and husband Gary T., of Allentown; grandchildren, Matthew Kasick (Lisa), Allison Saba Schmehl (Dan), Meredith Saba, and Brent Saba; two great grandchildren, Liam and Mila Kasick; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Mom, from all of us, we love you and we will miss your smile, your humor, your hugs and kisses, and most of all your unconditional love that brought great warmth to our hearts.

Special thanks to the staff of Devon House, where Pauline resided, for the care and friendship provided. Paulines family also extends appreciation to the staff of Family Pillars Hospice for comforting Pauline when she needed it most.
