Peter M. Kladias

Peter M. Kladias, 88, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 1, 1928 in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Michael P. and Sophia (Sotirakis) Kladias. He was preceded in death by his wife Athena (Tsihlis) in 2004. He was a graduate of Liberty High School 47 and Roosevelt Aviation School where he trained to become an aircraft mechanic. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and serviced the Constellation, President Eisenhowers plane. He was self-employed as a painting contractor and operated M.P. Kladias & Son for over 60 years. At the age of 12 he began making model airplanes and continued on to making speed competition model planes for the rest of his life.

He was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Bethlehem and served in the past on the Parish Council as well as the Church Building Committee. He was a past member of the Order of AHEPA Homer Chapter 65.

Survivors: He will lovingly be remembered by his daughter, Dr. Sophia C. Kladias, wife of John N. Tsiouvaras of Coopersburg, PA who cared for him in their home, and son, Michael P. Kladias, III of Pasadena, Maryland; sister, Helen K., wife of Emanuel C. Bakis of Allentown. He was preceded in death by a brother, George M. Kladias; nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1607 W. Union Blvd., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 10-11 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
