Peter Morgan Schriber, 47, of Allentown, PA, former resident of the city of Philadelphia, succumbed to complications associated with Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma on the evening of Wednesday, October 28th, 2020.
“Although we do not know how long we will have on this earth together, we never did.”
Peter lived his life never looking over his shoulder, rather, he looked forward, creating connection and shared experiences with all those who knew him.
Peter lives on in the heart of his devoted spouse, Christina Campbell Schriber. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Schriber and his father, Rufus Schriber, his beloved sister, Margo Wunder and her children Georgia and Spencer Wunder, his 100 year old grandmother, Margaret Scudder, his stepmother, Kathy Schriber and her and Rufus children, Peters siblings, Sarah and Jeffrey Schriber. Additionally, Peter is sorely missed by his father in law, Charles Campbell and Christinas siblings and their families as well as his fur child, Nora Schriber. Peter is predeceased by his adored grandfather, George Scudder, his brother in law, Kurt Wunder and his mother in law, Jeanette Campbell who loved him as her own.
Our sweet Peter was born on February 7th, 1973 to his loving mother, Nancy. From the beginning, Peter brought light and happiness into the lives of everyone he encountered. He had the gift of making those around him feel truly seen.
Peters patient, open heartedness has affected many. Beginning at Haverford School, Peter formed friendships with his peers that would be an integral part of their lives for the better part of 40 years. Loyal was an adjective that was not lost on Peters family, friends, coworkers, employees and those that he volunteered to support.
After graduating from Connecticut College, Peter went on to be a part of the Philadelphia restaurant scene in the late 90s. He owned and operated his own establishments in both the Northern Liberties and Olde City neighborhoods of Philadelphia. These bars became an anchor in their respective communities and innumerable happy memories were made there and are remembered by many to this day. Subsequently, Peter trained to become a wilderness EMT and then began his career working with AG Administrators where he would excel in risk management for almost a decade.
It was during their time in the restaurant industry where Peter met and courted his devoted partner, Christina. As a couple they enjoyed a multitude of adventures indulging in their love of travel, the great outdoors, live music and cultivating home. In 2015, Peter and Christina moved to the Lehigh Valley, PA and established residence in the mid-century modern home that they loved.
In addition to creating a home with his family, Peter loved outdoor sports. He consistently organized annual ski trips with his best friends, further bringing his community together. And he was enthusiastically involved with the Adaptive Ski Program at Jack Frost in Pennsylvania. His love of winter sports transcended the seasons and he looked forward to a future near the mountains he loved.
Running, hiking, biking, swimming, skiing and supporting athletes of all skill levels was Peters passion. Creating a home with Christina wherever they were was his joy. And building connections between people was his calling. He also loved to cook, enjoy a great meal and imbibe in a good adult beverage; his infectious smile made the party.
It was as he trained for and completed a triathlon in 2019 that Peters PTCL became apparent. Even pre diagnosis, he fought the good fight, diligently battling this rare and terrible disease. Despite pandemic lockdowns, relentless treatment and many setbacks, Peters optimism and grace motivated a beautiful quality of life throughout his cancer journey.
Peters spirit inspires all those who knew him. He lives in the heart of Christina and those lucky enough to call him son, brother, grandson, son in law, nephew, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend.
During these unprecedented times, Peters loved ones have chosen to celebrate his life safely and privately. In remembrance of Peters struggles with his immunocompromised system while the pandemic raged in our communities, the family has chosen to honor Peter and all of those who have sacrificed so much by following safe gathering guidance. At some point in 2021, there will be a Celebration of Life sendoff for Peter and his community will throw the party that he deserves.
