Peter Mesko, 78 of Bethlehem died Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital at Muhlenburg.
He and his wife Eleanor Blanar Mesko celebrated their 52rd anniversary in May.
Mr. Mesko, born in Bethlehem, was the son of the late Emil and Agnes Famina Mesko.
Peter was a Liberty High graduate where he excelled in wrestling and was a member of the school gymnastics and soccer teams. After serving his country as a U. S. Marine he attended and graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He joined Bethlehem Steel Corp and graduated from the Loop Program and worked as a project engineer with the Steel for 30 years for which he traveled to France, Germany and Sweden on special projects. He and his wife are members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bethlehem Township. In addition to his love for sports he loved gardening.
Surviving with his wife are his son Paul husband of Carole of Bethlehem his daughters: Jane wife of George Rushe of Dover, DE, Marcia wife of Ron Ulicny of Medford, N.J., Laura wife of Jim Allen of Hatfield, Pa. and Eileen wife of Chris Scott of Pottstown, Pa. He is also survived by his sister Mary Takach of Bethlehem and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Alex, Nicholas, John and Steve and his sister Anne Burke. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at the Connell Funeral Home 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Peter?s memory.
