Petra Gonzalez

Petra Gonzalez, 96, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Juan and Cruz (de la Cruz) Huertas. She was the wife of the late Cecilio Gonzalez who died in 2007; they were married for 61 years.

Before retiring in 1988, Petra was employed by the Fountain Hills Mills where she was a seamstress for 30 years. She was a devout Catholic and long-time member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Victor, David, and Cecilio Jr; sisters, Frances and Sophia Huertas, and “Tuna” Martinez; brothers, Carmelo and Felito Huertas; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons, Carlos, Ruben, and Raymond; and 5 siblings.

Viewing hours will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, on Friday, Oct. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at the Holy Infancy Church, 312 E 4th St, Bethlehem, PA 18015 followed by burial at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
